NORTHWEST FRESH PEAR CROP ESTIMATE FOR 2020 HARVEST SEASON ANNOUNCED

PORTLAND, Ore. – August 20, 2020 – After careful evaluation, the pear industry is releasing the first official estimate of the 2020-21 fresh pear crop for Washington and Oregon. Pear growers and producers from Washington’s Wenatchee and Yakima and Oregon’s Mid-Columbia and Medford districts have estimated this year’s fresh pear harvest at 16.6 million standard box equivalents, or approximately 366,000 tons of fresh pears. Pear Bureau Northwest Receives Trade Mitigation Relief Funding

PBNW awarded over $1.5 million in additional ATP funding PORTLAND, Ore. – August 13, 2019 – Pear Bureau Northwest (PBNW) has been awarded $1,540,830 in the second round of the Agricultural Trade Program (ATP) funding – part of the U.S. government’s larger trade mitigation relief package. 2016 Northwest Fresh Pear Crop Estimate Slight drop in crop expected from Washington and Oregon in 2016 PORTLAND, Ore. (June 8, 2016) – 2016 Northwest Fresh Pear Crop Estimate. Northwest pear growers are releasing fresh pear harvest projections following their annual meetings in Portland last week. Collectively, Washington’s Wenatchee and Yakima regions and Oregon’s Mid-Columbia and Medford regions estimate a fresh pear harvest of 18.7 million standard box equivalents, or 414,000 tons of fresh pears. 2015 Season Estimate for Northwest Fresh Pear Crop

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 9, 2015) – The annual meeting of Northwest pear growers was conducted last week in Portland, with anticipated projections on the 2015 fresh pear harvest set at nearly 20.4 million standard box equivalents which equates to approximately 451,000 tons of fresh pears.  The projection is 2% higher than the five-year average, and 2% lower than last year’s crop. The estimate was collected from fresh pear growers in Wenatchee and Yakima, Washington and Mid-Columbia and Medford, Oregon growing districts.
