I would love some nice firm SECKEL pears. I have not been able to find any of these little gems to make my YiaYia’s recipe of poached cinnamon & clove pears. We would make up as many as we could get ( at least a bushel or 2 if we could get them) every year and then make them. While hot we would put them up in mason jars so they could last the year. These were the center piece of any desert given to visitors or offered with your tea/coffee along with cookies and savories . (Being Greek, we will feed you the second you walk in the door LOL) Just seeing the picture brought back so many great memories! THANK YOU!!!

Bosc and Concord…with the Concord edging up slightly. I can only get the Concord in Oregon when I am there. The memory of that delicious pear is a bit rapturous. My favorite way to eat a Bosc, other than simply diving into it, is to slice it over gorgonzola cheese that lies on olive oil brushed naan bread. I sprinkle fresh rosemary over it and bake it for about 7 minutes. Once plated, I drizzle honey over the whole thing. Heaven. I’ve been known to eat this four nights in a row in order to finish up the package of naan and four pears.
I love them all but my favorite is the Anjou pear! I love to put in the refrigerator to get nice and cold and then eat! So crunchy!

Huge, perfect sweet flavor, best when still firm. What a fantastic pear. Seem best after frosts here in Manhattan, Illinois, good through most all of Nov this year. So firm that 75% of them still unhurt off the ground.
We really like Comice pears. They are so sweet and delicious. Can halve and remove seeds and eat fruit out of skin with a spoon.

I love all pears! Pears, in general, reminds me of my parents. They always had pears when they were in season. Pears always come to mind, when I think of my childhood; we had them in the house, whether fresh or frozen.
Of the ten pears listed, I only know five, the two Ajous, two Bartletts and Bosc. However, buying pears in the local (Minnesota) grocery stores has been such a disappointment for years, I gave up purchasing the fruit. The pears always seemed to be too hard and/or flavorless. If I won these directly mailed pears, it might be the beginning of a new relationship.

Anjou pears are my favourite as they’re so juicy and sweet! I add them to salads, pork recipes, chicken recipes but mostly I just eat them straight up! My kids love them too and it’s a nice alternative to apples which we also love. I’ve also added them to smoothies but found it hides the flavour and who wants that – no me 😉
I like all pears, but Seckel is best.

Absolutely LOVE COMICE Pears! When I see them I buy all I can. They don’t last long – at the store or in our house!!

Bartetts are my very favorite. I truly love Pears and make my own jam to enjoy all year. Mom started making it when I was a young girl. Loved it since then. 🙂 Thank you!!

I seriously have to choose 1? I grew up climbing my grandma’s fruit trees and munching on fresh fruit, pears being one of my favorites so I’m partial to the Bartletts and Bosc but I love the Seckel too.
