Fall Bounty Centerpiece

Celebrate the bounty of the harvest season. The beautiful shape and variety of colors of USA Pears make them the perfect focal point of an easy and opulent pear fall bounty centerpiece or mantel decoration.

MATERIALS
  • Twigs, from your garden or a florist
  • Branches with leaves
  • Pears in varying sizes, shapes, and colors.
  • Optional flowers and fall berries (with flower pick)
  • Optional small gourds
  • Extra twigs
  • Florist wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Pruning shears
  • Candle or candles
  • Saucer or plate to fit candle(s)
  • Ribbon
DIRECTIONS

To make this centerpiece, start with your base. Form your twigs into two bundles, with the cut ends wired together in the center of each bundle. If using candles, place them in your saucer and tie a bow around them. Set one bundle of twigs on the saucer behind the candles, and one in front of them. You may wish to lightly wire the two bundles together for extra stability. Make little bundles of the leaved branches and of the berries, using either wire or a simple rubber band. If your leaves are fresh, not dried, place them in a water pick. Place any flowers in water picks.

Tuck a couple of branch bundles into the twigs. Nestle the pears, gourds, and berry or flower bundles into the twig bundles. If needed for added stability, you can poke an extra twig into the bottom of a pear and then tuck the ensemble into the twig bundle base. You can also create a similar effect in a smaller space by using just one twig bundle, and adding the leaves and pears. Florist wire and flower picks are available from a craft store or florist. Twigs can be purchased from a florist.
